Pardon my cynicism, but considering the Jay and Casey reports proved that plod were at least indirectly complicit in these crimes, and this most recent case proves that they can be DIRECTLY complicit, I don't think "more police" is the right way to go.

If the government can't/won't pay for police on every corner. and nobody grasses up anybody else any more, the answer is probably more - MUCH more - CCTV.
A camera on every corner - and none of that speed camera bollocks where only about 1 in 10 camera boxed had a camera and of that only a handful had film.
If people realise that their movements can be (back) tracked when they're in public, they may think twice about their actions.
No more picking your nose in public and eating the contents for YOU, matey-peeps.

This Tory government need to be tougher and bring back the death penalty for these sorts of crimes, as a just punishment and active deterrent. Put armed police on every streets. Give them more stop and search powers.

This is not what happened. What happened was that they were believed, but the police wanted to believe that they were voluntarily participating. They were afraid to investigate further because they were frightened of being labelled as racist.
Those thousands of girls were collateral damage. Their fate is the biggest crime in Britain in any of our memories and it gets less front page coverage than a bit of rain. When it is brought up, we are told to shut up because other people commit crimes too.

Did the police, education services, local authority, social services and local politicians ignore the crime and refuse to investigate it because of the criminals’ ethnicity and religion?
If not, it is a very poor comparison and demonstrates a lack of understanding on your part.

If this is as prevalent as suggested (on here) then it's highly likely that all posters know at least one victim...or perpetrator of these crimes.
If that is the case, the question us "Why is this not higher up the establishment's list of crimes to be solved?"

There are multiple cases of these Pakistani grooming gangs also raping Asian girls. In Newcastle this has happened on multiple occasions. The issue is that the girls concerned won't report what's happened as they believe they'll be blamed for it and told to shut up about it. A friend of mine works with Police on the issue.
The point being that the idea that these gangs will target the people they think won't speak up, won't be believed. The majority of such girls in those areas are young white girls, often those in care. That assessment was clearly correct after it was ignored for so long by the authorities.
Also, based on reporting in the papers, it's largely Pakistanis, Afghans and a couple of others thrown in. The "Muslim" community is very mixed. I haven't seen any West African Muslim grooming gangs stories in the UK? Malaysian grooming gangs? So "Muslim" is a bit simplistic to say the least.
